Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council or KCBC is a permanent association of the Catholic bishops in Kerala. It is an association of three rites of the Church in Kerala - the Latin, the Syro Malabar and the Syro Malankara. The objectives of KCBC are to facilitate co-ordinate study and discussion of questions affecting the Church, and adoption of a common policy and effective action in all matters concerning the interests of the Church in Kerala.
KCBC intends to express, through statements and representations, the common standpoint of its members in the matters of common concern falling within the limits of their jurisdiction, and to promote, by concerted action and guidance, all matters of common interest.
KCBC Youth Commission is one of the commissions under KCBC, which deals with the uplifting and the capacity building of young people in Kerala. Kerala Catholic Youth Movement or KCYM is the official State/Regional Youth Organization under KCBC Commission for Youth. It is affiliated to the National Youth Body ‘Indian Catholic Youth Movement’ or ICYM and known as ‘ICYM KERALA REGION’.
It was in 1978, with much preparation by bishops, priests and laity the youth organization started by the name KCYM under KCBC Youth Commission. Now it is spread in all the 29 Catholic Dioceses of 3 Rites in Kerala and each diocese stands as an affiliated body to the State Unit. It is consisted of youngsters between the age group of 15- 35 years who subscribe to the Catholic values and principles. But the beneficiaries will be even the youth of different religion too.
